    FYG Clinical Rotations

     YOUNG – Mercy Care Centre

    Client group:
    It will be either rehabilitation – neurological, orthopaedic and aged care or outpatients – acute and chronic vertebral and peripheral conditions, orthopaedics.

    Duties:
    Rehabilitation duties include; assessment and treatment of client groups above as a member of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation and assessment teams; (including a role as ACAT Physiotherapist) supervision of the rehabilitation aide; participation in departmental and team continuous quality improvement activities (CQI) and continuing education.
    Outpatient duties include; assessment of a wide range of musculoskeletal problems, CQI and continuing education.
    Both rotations also have opportunities to gain experience in; cardiac rehabilitation, pulmonary rehabilitation, plastering, paediatrics, pre natal Preparation for Parenthood classes and women’s health (and assisting with student supervision).

    • General Outpatients including acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries at Mercy Care Centre, Young.
    • Rehabilitation Inpatients: CVA, orthopaedic, general neurological as part of a multi-disciplinary team, Mercy Care Centre, Young.
    • Rotation depends on permanent staff rotations

    Working Hours

    8:00am - 4:30pm

    or 8:30am - 5:00pm

    Weekend Shifts

    Not at present, very rarely rostered part day weekend work.

    Evening shifts

    Not at present, very rarely rostered evening work.

    Accommodation

    Staff Quarters, Mercy Care Centre, Young - Contact Nursing Admin Secretary on (02) 6382 8342. Fee: $9.10 per night. Weekly fee $63.70

    Orientation Process

    Commencing in rotation following formal orientation. Accommodation can be arranged prior to arrival. Work hours 8.30 - 5.00 with allocated day off monthly on Monday or Friday.

    Education Programs

    Fortnightly PT specific inservices, experienced senior staff.

    Monthly Allied Health inservice program

    Social Activities

    All forms of sport, local wineries, theatre group, rural activities, restaurants, friendly department, country lifestyle, friendly town, Wagga & Canberra 1 hour & 45 minutes drive.
